Swan technology: quick, accurate, powerful. Intelligent

New technologies, new opportunities

‘Original’ virtual fitting room solutions were plagued by the limitations of the technologies available at the time. Over a decade later, advances in technology – particularly in the artificial intelligence – mean that that the virtual fitting room concept, in the form of Swan, is finally able to fulfil its potential.

AI-powered computer vision: solving the ‘customer measurements’ problem

Swan uses unique, AI-based computer vision technology, developed in the laboratories of one of Europe’s leading research universities – Trinity College, Dublin – to measure shoppers. Using a shopper’s mobile phone or similar device, Swan takes 33 different body measurements to within 1cm accuracy, within 20 seconds. This speed and accuracy is the core of Swan’s capabilities.

Data analytics: solving the garment data problem

Advances in data analysis means that Swan is able to extract garment measurements from data files regardless of their original format. A retailer needs only to drag and drop the source files into the Swan dashboard, and Swan’s tech does the rest, including verification of the extracted data. For retailers, this all-but-eliminates the issue of ‘maintenance’.

Data analytics: solving the size recommendation problem

Few shoppers fall unambiguously into a single size using size chart-type criteria – if they did, no-one would need a virtual fitting room. Swan’s sophisticated algorithm determines where compromises can be made, taking into account attributes including the respective measurements of the shopper and the garment, how a garment is supposed to be worn, and even the stretchiness of the fabric.

User-configuration: solving the branding problem

As a SaaS solution, Swan offers a degree of flexibility in respect of (for example) the words used to explain to shoppers what they are doing/seeing at each stage. This enables retailers to use their brand’s tone of voice or style of language to communicate with shoppers at these important points, ensuring their Swan solution appears to be unique to the retailer.

App-based integration: solving the e-commerce platform integration problem

Historically, integration with ecommerce platforms was a resource-heavy, intensive process – a disincentive for retailers. Swan simplifies the entire process, integrating with ecommerce platforms via app. A Shopify app is currently available, with integrations for BigCommerce and WooCommerce in development and others in the roadmap.
